The most common car models for sale in Australia are the Ford Focus, BMW i3 and Mazda 3.
The Mazda 3 is the most popular model, accounting for 44 per cent of the Australian market.
For the first time ever, a car is not the most frequently searched item for Australians in the automotive space.
Despite this, it was the BMW i9 that was the most searched item in Australia in September.
According to Automotive Data Group, the i9 ranked #2 on the search results page for the month of September.
The i9 was also the most viewed car model for Australians aged 55 and over, with 4.8 million searches.
The BMW i8 is the second most searched model for Australia, with 2.4 million searches, behind the Ford Fiesta ST.
Ford Focus was the car model most searched for in August, with 1.3 million searches followed by the Mazda 3, the Volkswagen Golf R and Nissan Leaf.
While the Mazda3 is the more popular car model in Australia, the Ford Fusion is the best selling model in the country.
This is due to the fact that the Fusion is available in four colours.
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo was the top-selling car model across all models in September, accounting to 7.5 million searches in Australia.
The Nissan Leaf was the best-selling model for August in Australia with 6.3 percent of all car sales, followed by Volkswagen Golf RS with 5.6 percent.
The Ford Focus was #2 for August with 5 percent of sales.
Next up was the Audi A3, followed closely by the BMW 5 Series, which accounted for 6.2 percent of the total sales in Australia during the month.
As you can see, the Mitsubishis Lancer and Lancer EVO were top sellers in September and August.
